Help we’re Snowed in!

The front of our home and Studio

Like a lot of people over the past few days the weather has been terrible. The snow looks good for pictures and postcards but when you want to get around it can be a little bit tricky. The house looks great in the snow but my car refuses to move at the moment so we are stuck in, with only a warm fire to sit around and loads of warm drinks to warm up on. I am getting a bit worried about our supplies as we seem to be running low on chocolate at the moment! So I might have to send out a search party for more provisions.Anyhow because we are stuck in it will give me chance to catch up on my work which isnt a bad thing.

The back of our Studios

Most people seem to think that wedding photographers only work fours hours every Saturday and only then in the Summer, if only it was that easy! December for us is just as busy as August is. I have worked on a hundred and twenty weddings this year. Each wedding I attend is usually an all day booking which is an average of 10 hours in the day, then its back to the studio to load all the images on to the computer and “back them all up”. This takes another 2 hours. Then the next day we sort out the pictures and adjust colours, exposure and pull out the duplicates and the blinks and load them up to the website for peaple to view. This takes another day to do. Then once our Bride and Groom pick their pictures to go in the wedding album we design the album, this also takes a lot of time. So I ve calculated how many days I had “off” last year and it comes to five. I’ll let you into a secret, I love my job so much that I’m planning to have three days this year, well I’ll only be twiddling my thumbs if I had any more!
