Hi
My name is Janice and I would like to introduce you to Harry. Harry is a cross Labrador I. He’s “knocking on” a bit but still has plenty of life in him and loves to do all those doggie things that dogs do. He not quite as en-hammered by the postman, but postie knows this and has developed quite a loud whistle as he approaches our house. He tells me its his early warning system.
Life for Harry is bliss or well its seems it to me. I will give you a run down of a typical “Harry day” and you can judge for yourselves..jpg)
At around 7.00am “H” as we sometimes call him will stir from “doggie dreamland” and politely but insistently , begin to whine. It starts off rather pathetically but I know if I ignore it, he can wind it up to a “full blown” howl. He telling me he wants to go out to the garden and “cock his leg”. I know I’ve trained him to do this, but sometimes arrrh. Anyhow when he’s managed to awaken the rest of the house he struts his stuff and sniffs every leaf, stone, car wheel, rubbish bin that he sees. Quite why he does this I am not sure but hey he seems to love it. After this he will come into the kitchen and plant his bum on the floor, well when I say “plant his bum” he dosnt quite manage it. He tends to “hover” in a sitting down position when he’s in the kitchen. I could never understand this behaviour because he sits properly everywhere else in the house, till it was pointed out to me that we have ‘cold tiles” in the Kitchen!! Anyhow he’ll “hover” while we have our cereal, looking up with those big brown eyes that melt my heart. Now I know dogs cant smile but I sure everytime I glance down (when I think he’s not looking) at that scruffy lovable face, he manages to look right back and give me a big broad grin. Okay I know I’ll weaken and I know, he knows, I know and I’ll soon be sharing my “Special K” with Harry.
After breakfast its back to bed, not for me..Harry! He will sleep till he hears anything that interests him. The phone is very interesting to Harry as when it rings, he races around the house barking for all his worth. Thankfully he never “attacks” the telephone itself and for that we are thankful. Mobile phones dont have the same appeal for Harry, so there’s a blessing.
Afternoons consists of his daily walk and ball throwing activities in the local park. Of course there is lots of “bottom sniffing” to do in the there and Harry is an expert. After lots of youthful running, racing, leaping, Harry needs the loo. His face can be quite a picture when he watches me “pooper scooping” after he’s done the “necessary”. I often wonder what hes thinking while he watches me do this.
Evenings are great for Harry as he loves to lay on his back on the couch while I stroke his tummy. On special occasions we get out the “Quality Street”. Harry loves these little treats although its quite funny for us to watch him eat one of those flat shaped toffees that come in the yellow wrapper because as it gets softer in his mouth he begins to chew in slow motion as his teeth stick together. It never puts him off though.
After he watched telly (oh his favourite program was “The Bill” by the way, all those police sirens going off was heaven for Harry, shame on you ITV for pulling it.) he again goes through the “whinning” routine, we know this is his cue to be let out and he’ll be in his basket on the landing straight after his late night round up as we call it. Thats Harrys day.
The sad bit.
Harry’s not with us anymore, he died. We loved him to bits and he was such a wonderful ray of sunshine in our lives but we knew that this day would come, but it didnt stop us welcoming Harry into our family when he was just a little puppy and we would rather be richer blessed with the memories of Harry than be poorer by not having any memories of him at all.
I thought I’d share this story with you people who read Mark’s blog. A few months ago we had a studio sitting at Mark Jordan Photography. I cant remember how or why we managed to end up in the studio, I think we had a voucher bought by a family friend. Anyhow we did the whole studio portrait “thing” and we really enjoyed it. Harry behaved himself, and was the star of the shoot.
We were over the moon with the pictures but it didnt really hit us how important that little photo shoot meant to us before we lost our beloved Harry. Yes we had loads of photos of “Harry and Us” that we took, but no professional ones that we can show and keep forever. Im so glad we had a portrait done, it would have hurt me so much if we had not made the effort on that cold Saturday morning.
We now have a largish framed picture of “H” on our wall. Its not hanging over the fireplace, (we dont want visitors thinking us weird) It hung in the hallway and below it, is his lead, the ball still there too. Harry watches me and our new puppy (Max) heading for the park, and as I head out the door, I always glance at Harrys face looking at me and I know he’s thinking about sniffing that “new” dogs bum!!
For those who have read down this far, my message to you is if you have a “loved one” just get your portrait taken by a professional photographer. Obviously I would recommend Mark, because we had a fabulous time and the quality of his work is fantastic but any local Professional Photographer will do.

Waterton Park Hotel only allow a certain number of wedding photographers at the wedding fair, which is great for the Brides because it can be so confusing if you have lots and lots of Wedding photographers to see. We had a great time taking to all the girls and “mums’ on the day and we booked more wedding at the fair than we ever have. As a result of the fair we only have a few limited places for 2012 available. We like to limit our weddings to 50 a year and with that number quickly approaching all the dates have nearly gone, we still have some of our “Winter Specials” starting from £995. These packages start from November 1st 2011 through to March 31st 2012 these have been very popular too.
